The West African Action Network on Small Arms (WAANSA) Nigeria proudly joins the International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA) and global partners in commemorating the Global Week of Action Against Gun Violence (GWoA) 2025, taking place from June 3 to June 9. This annual campaign unites civil society organizations, governments, and communities worldwide to advocate for stronger measures against the proliferation and misuse of small arms and light weapons (SALW).
Advocating for a World Free from Gun Violence
This year’s GWoA theme, “Protect the Future: Control Small Arms and their Ammunition for Global Safety.” underscores the urgent need for tangible efforts to combat gun violence. WAANSA Nigeria aligns with this vision by implementing initiatives aimed at reducing armed violence and promoting peace and security within the country.
WAANSA Nigeria calls upon all stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and the general public, to join in efforts to curb gun violence. By working together, it is possible to create a safer and more secure Nigeria, free from the threats posed by the illicit proliferation of small arms and light weapons.
